I’m grateful to The Warming Store for giving me the opportunity to talk about Gobi Heat® and what makes us special. I am Jaye Genung, the founder, and CEO of Gobi Heat. I started the company because I was always cold and that meant that I was missing out on a lot of activities with my friends and family. It occurred to me that I was not alone and there were lots of other people in the same metaphorical boat. I started thinking about those people. I thought about them a lot.
When asked what makes Gobi Heat different from the other heated apparel brands, I answer that we design and perform with thoughtfulness. We are thoughtful about our customer’s wants and needs. We spend a lot of time thinking about their lives and where heated apparel fits into that. What that means for our customers is they get well-made products that meld substance and style, functionality and features.
The outdoors means something different to everyone. For some, it’s work, and for others it’s play. Whether you’re in the oil fields in the depths of winter or at a soccer game in the brisk wind, heated apparel has a wide range of unique use cases. The heated apparel market has long been plagued by its one-size-fits-all approach. Even the world’s largest apparel companies feature only a select few styles to choose from for heated apparel, taking little into account for their user’s lifestyle. It seems odd that even in an era of customization and choice overload, the heated apparel market finds itself so far behind. We think that Gobi Heat is the only company that has given thought to all of those customers’ needs. Some folks find it fascinating that I am a woman and that Gobi Heat is a 100% female-owned company. I’m not sure about all that, but I do know that I have put thousands of hours into designing products for women as well as men. Heated apparel often means “men working outdoors,” but that is not the case at Gobi Heat. We think about all of our customers.

Gobi Heat is named after the vast Gobi Desert that straddles both Mongolia and China. The Gobi Desert is a fascinating place because its temperatures range from 122ºF in the summer to as low as -27ºF in the winter. The Gobi reminds us to be ready for anything.
